Arena Displays Waller's Arena Displays normally have six to eight horses, and show many aspects of cavalry riding and tactics of the English Civil War. Often held before a battle, the Arena Display can also stand on its own. Especially in the Midlands where we have a keen contingent of members, these displays are frequently put on entirely with member's own horses Ideal for horse-shows, open days, fetes and fairs, our display lasts 20 to 30 minutes, have an informative and entertaining commentary and, dependent upon the sponsor's requirements, ground conditions and arena size, could include some or all of the following elements: Drill/control of the horse
Mounted skill at arms ('cabbage-chopping') Mounted combat 'Caracole' with pistol fire Carbines fired from horseback The charge "First and Last Cavalry" - a comparison between the first modern cavalry, the Ironsides, and the last, First World War Lancers. For photographs of our display, see the Displays Gallery.
